dip•lo•mat•ic

adj. skilled in dealing with sensitive matters or people; tactful.

The heated presidential race is on. The discovery of the pregnancy of Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin’s unwed daughter was indeed a sensitive subject that most ruthless politicians would jump at the chance of claiming hypocrisy of standards and scandal to say the least.

I was very pleased to see that Barack Obama issued a firm statement to the press that Bristol Palin and her current situation was a private matter. Better yet, it was off limits.

I hope that I can maintain the same standard. When my enemy is delivered to me in my hot little hands, one who is so viciously attacking me, one whom I could destroy with one fell swoop, I pray I may remain diplomatic in my response according to the situation. Why?  It’s the right thing to do.  But, if for no other reason? What goes around eventually does comes around.

As I came into this world breathless, I want to go out in the same way.

Heaven help me if I can ever just pass through this life without noticing how wonderful it is. I want to look at the world in amazement.

I never want to lose my child-like awe at how small we are in the world. I want to honor that but know that we also have an effect on this world as well.

I want to welcome the world into my arms, no matter how it comes to me, and love it for making me who I am, just as I am. I want to hold my breath with anticipated excitement wondering just what will come next.

In a word, I want to become, breathless.

May you, if you want, become breathless, too.

May I be as true as what I put out into the world.

Forgiving others is hard; forgiving yourself is even harder.

Today, try to be a friend to yourself. What would you say to a friend who had really messed up. Really.

Would you kick them while they’re down? Would you call them names? Would you remind them constantly of what they did and how bad they messed up?

Of course you wouldn’t. So don’t do that to yourself.

Find forgiveness somewhere in your heart for all of the things you just plain ol forgot, messed up, or did way in the past. Often, when you practice forgiveness of yourself, you’ll be able to overcome whatever it is that’s holding you back from being the person you were meant to become.
